Alexander George Thynn, 7th Marquess of Bath was born in 1932 - an eccentric and rather colorful Lord. He was educated at Eton. Art was close to his heart already when he was a young man. He studied under Wilfred Blunt, Oliver Thomas and Gerald Leet at Eton.

In Paris - he joined the art scene of the legendary La Rive Gauche - the "Left Bank". The old era of artists has always been connected with the Left Bank - Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway, Henri Matisse, Nancy Cunard, Anais Nin, Gertrude Stein...here the life style of bohemians - writers, philosophers,photographers, poets, and artists...can be seen an lived....Atmosphere - fill your soul - Boulevard Saint Germain des Pré's....

Longleat - 1675 - Artist - Jan Siberechts

On the death of his father in 1992 he (Viscount Weymouth) became the 7th Marquess of Bath and took control of Longleat House a very attractive stately home which, is set within 900 acres of magnificent landscaped parkland with a further 8000 acres of nature.

His life..... art, writing, and music....

which, you can follow througout his life in his paintings and writings. You can experience his murals entitled "keyhole glimpse into my psyche" at Longleat House.

The Red Library at Longleat has approximately 40000 books... for us who like books....

Artists like John Frederick Herring, James Seymore, Henry Alken and George Stubbs made Sporting Life come alive.....

As to unite elegance and utility under simple conditions "Living Under Canvas" and the movement from continent to continent it does not have to be a forgotten art in our era of living. The Sporting print is still a large part of a must in my life of travels...

it's light and very easy to travel with and occasionally maybe it needs to be reframed...years of traveling abuses your belongings...

While "Under Canvas" you want to assure yourself with a certain degree of comfort....is that not why the "knock-down furniture" (Campaign) was designed?

It can at anytime quickly be dismanteled for packing and shipping to any desired destination... the Americas, India, Asia, the South Seas and Africa....or wherever your travels make take you throughout the world....

He was an Italian composer, musicologist - Rome always make me think about Fontane di Roma ("Fountains of Rome")his trilogy (Fontane di Roma, Pines di Roma, and Feste Romane)he actually studied some time for Nikolai Rimsky - Kosakov as well - Anyways, if you have never listen to this orchestral piece...it would be well worth the time....

.some hidden little restaurant to visit...I do recommend Ristorante la Campana located at Vicolo Della Campana 18 - shy of the Tiber River - Rome’s oldest restaurant - a definitely classic Roman restaurant, as I remember them from my childhoods visits to Italy - white tablecloths, casual formality, black-suited waiters with a (nowadays partially) handwritten menu which changes daily - Lovely fresh fish dishes, Porcini mushrooms, fried artichokes and the best Tiramasu in Rome.

The City of Roma a "little" to crowded for me .....I could be hiding in Palazzo Rondanini but - No - not staying in Italy this time ....on my way again.....Destination - Warsaw, Poland....
