An American Sculptor and Traveler Who Studied and Worked With Auguste Rodin in Paris...

A remarkable woman - Malvina Hoffman (1885 - 1966)
She received the Gold Medal of the National Sculpture Society in 1964.Her work is owned by the Art Institute of Chicago, the American Museum of Natural History, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Detroit Institute of Arts, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

She grew up in the discipline of art as her father was a solo pianist. She was an extraordinary woman known for her realism, directness, life-size bronze sculptures and...

Russian Dancers - 1911 - M.H.

..her ability for expression and interpretation of movement...She studied with Auguste Rodin - her friendship with the great artist started in 1910.

A commission to complete sculptures of mankind took her on a five-year voyage throughout the world. She made from 1929 to 1935 over 100 sculptures cast in bronze representing The Races of Mankind.

She had visit Spain and brought with her back the history volumes of Spanish Bullfighting by Cossio and later made eight Bullfighting Sculptures after having studied the anatomy of the Bull: Some of the Pieces were "The Banderillero", "The Moment of Truth","Matador and the Dying Bull, "The Picador" - this composition she had been told in Spain "that it would be impossible to compose this sculpture in three dimensions" - She saw this a great challenge....her accomplishment ended with eight incredable sculptures.....
